Wags Links Tour 2021
Safely back from our 4th Links Tour in Norfolk
We arrived on Sunday for lunch in the new clubhouse at Heacham Manor. Very impressive and a great addition to the hotel with fantastic views across the golf course. The weather was bright but windy giving us a tough test of golf on our first day.
Congratulations to our Winner here, Roger Brown, with 32 points, Second David Morgan with 31 points ocb, Third Malcolm Smith also 31 points, very good scores in such tough conditions, well done all three.
Day 2 Monday
Hunstanton for our Foursomes competition. A wonderful links course very worthy of it’s position in the top 100. It was the second visit for most of us but that certainly did not help to make it any easier. The wind remained fierce but the sun shone for us. After golf we retired to the wonderful clubhouse for lunch, a great selection of sandwiches served by the very friendly staff. A truly memorable day for us and thoroughly enjoyed.
Congratulations to the winning pair, Ranjit Mankoo and Alan Thackrey, Second pair Alex Guberman and Ken Godfrey, Third Roger Brown and Yuki Miyakawa. A great day for us, made all the better by our playing in daylight!
Day 3 Tuesday
Royal Cromer for our main competition. The course was presented immaculately for us, we were the first group to play after very heavy rainfall on Monday night. A truly wonderful golf course with great views out to sea. The greens were absolutely first class, the fairways like carpets. Very friendly staff, good food, and above all the guarantee of a great welcome when you arrive. Never to be missed.
The winner of the Links Trophy was Steve Smithson 33 points, 2nd Roger Brown 32 points ocb, 3rd Alex Guberman 32 points.
Thank you all for supporting the WAGS TOUR again this year. It surely was our best so far, great accommodation, great food, wonderful golf and great banter between us all.
Book early for next year, Sheringham is booked, also our favorite of all, Royal Cromer. Looking forward to hearing from you with your support.
Very best wishes,
Steve Smithson
