Links Tour 2020
Safely back home once again from our third Wags Links Tour. Leaving here on Sunday morning with heavy rain falling I wondered if conditions would be the same in Norfolk. I am happy to say that my concerns were unfounded. We arrived in good time, (all that is apart from our treasurer) who managed to get himself lost. He is now taking lessons in Sat Nav management!
We enjoyed our golf on the Heacham course playing in cloudy but dry conditions, unfortunately the rain did arrive mid afternoon with a much colder feel to it. Nevertheless we all enjoyed the course as a prelude to the next two days golf.
Day two we were at Kings Lynn, a first time visit for all of us. We arrived in bright sunshine which fortunately stayed with us for the day, helping us to enjoy this lovely Parkland Course. We were welcomed with a very warm and friendly greeting from the staff which was much appreciated by us all. The course was in great condition although the greens were slower than most, it did not spoil our enjoyment of this great golf course. The general opinion from all was that we would all like to visit here again.
Our winner here on our first competition day was Malcom Smith, with a very respectable 33 points. Second Mike Moore 29 points, Third Steve with 27 points. My excuse being that the trees got in my way. A thoroughly enjoyable day for us all finishing with a drink and sandwiches on the clubhouse patio.
Day three, our main competition day at Royal Cromer. Our second visit here was well worth a return, it never disappoints, with a fantastic layout and great views out to the North Sea. The staff here are always friendly and welcoming helping us to enjoy our day. The course was extremely busy when we arrived but we were on the first tee bang on time at 11am ready to go.
A very welcome aspect on the first tee was the starter, a very pleasant, nice looking, friendly and knowledgeable lady who managed to start us in six minute intervals, very impressive. It is such a fantastic golf course being a firm favorite of us all. We played in warm sunshine enjoying every minute spent there.
Our victor and winner of the Links Trophy was Roy Davis with 31 points on count back, second place, Mike Moore 31 points, Third place Steve with 30 points. Congratulations to Roy on his win and to all of you who were able to join us and support the tour this year. Unfortunately we were down on our numbers and did miss those of you that for various reasons were unable to participate this year. It was a very successful tour once again and I would like to particularly thank Tom, Katz and Roy for their photographic contributions. I look forward to seeing all of you soon.
